General questions about the software

What are the advantages of cloud software?

Cloud software gives you anytime, anywhere access to your files and applications. Start preparing a presentation in the teacher room, on your tablet. Complete it on your home PC. Quickly add up to date information via your tablet on the way to school. And finally, present the course on your interactive whiteboard. Need to change classrooms unexpectedly? No problem, you content moves with you.

Do I need an ethernet connection to work with the i3LEARNHUB software?

An ethernet connection is always a good solution for cloud based applications.
You will need an internet connection to load the application and your presentation. However, once started, i3LEARNHUB was designed to cope with occasional wifi signal drops as sometimes occur in regular environments. This will temporarily limit the software’s capability to access the server and the library, but the software will not fail. You can keep using the canvas normally.
Once the connection is restored, the server and library will be accessible again without restarting the app, enabling you to save your work.
In case of doubt you can always export your presentation to PDF for offline delivery.

Can I use my files offline?

No, but you can export your files within i3LEARNHUB to PDF or an image file for offline use.

Hard- & software compatibility

Will i3LEARNHUB work on my PC/Tablet/Smartphone?

I3LEARNHUB will work on any device that is capable of running a modern browser.
This means computers, tablets and almost all smartphones.
i3LEARNHUB system requirements: Windows 7, OSX, Ubuntu 10.10, iOS6, Android 4, Windows RT, Windows Phone 8, Blackberry OS 10 or higher. i3LEARNHUB is currently optimized for screen sizes of 10” or larger. If you are unsure of what hardware you need, i3 can provide you with an integrated solution.

Does i3LEARNHUB require an app to work on tablets?

No. i3LEARNHUB was designed for ease of use and will work in any tablet’s browser thanks to its cutting edge web technology.
Simply go to www.i3learnhub.com, sign in and continue working on your tablet.

Wich browsers does i3LEARNHUB support?

i3LEARNHUB works fine in any recently updated browser, but you will get an optimal experience in Google Chrome.
Minimum browser specifications: Internet Explorer 9, Safari 5, Chrome 35, Firefox 28 or higher.

Does i3LEARNHUB support multitouch?

Yes, i3LEARNHUB supports multitouch devices. On select hardware, you can even work with physical measurement tools such as a compass, geotriangle and ruler. See www.i3-learning.com for more information.

I don't have a multitouch-enabled board. Can I still use i3LEARNHUB with my regualar interactive whitebaord?

Yes. However, the multi-touch capability of i3LEARNHUB only works if you have connected a multitouch-enabled device.
Multitouch is also a requirement for the physical-digital interaction features.

Will I be able to use the physical-digital math instruments with my current math instruments?

The Augmented Reality / Physical-Digital interaction in i3LEARNHUB is designed to work with the i3 Math Instruments. Your standard instruments will not work.
Any multitouch device able to run i3LEARNHUB and recognize 4 or more touch points should work with the i3 Math Instruments.
Results will be best, however, on 10-touch V-Sense hardware such as i3BOARD and i3TOUCH V-Sense.

iMO-LEARN

What is the iMO-LEARN made of?
The iMO-LEARN cubes are made of EPP (Expanded Polypropylene).

How strong is the material of the iMO-LEARN?
EPP is a very lightweight material and fairly resistant to damage, but it is recommended to avoid using sharp objects. EPP is moisture resistant and offers a good resistance to high temperatures. In addition, the material is recyclable and has a low emission manufacturing process. The cubes can support heavy weight, so feel free to stand on the cubes with two or more students. Also throwing the iMO-LEARN from a substantial height is no issue.

What is the weight of the iMO-LEARN?
The weight is approximately 1,8 kg. Its size and limited weight make it easy to move.

What is the preferred age of students to use iMO-LEARN?
iMO-LEARN is suitable to use for all ages.

Do I need a motion detection module (MDM) to be able to use the iMO-LEARN?
No, you can use the iMO-LEARN both in an analog and digital way. There are plenty of activities (cfr. Activity Manual with 100 exercises and Build Constructions with 40 building cards) that don’t require the MDM.

Do I need to use an interactive whiteboard or interactive flat panel when using the iMO-LEARN with the motion detection module?
You don’t need an interactive whiteboard or flat panel. A projector or computer can be used as well.

What is iMO-Connect?
iMO-Connect is a connection software for the iMO-LEARN MDM. This software is required to establish a connection between the MDM in the iMO-LEARN and a computer. You can download it for free on our website. After installing the iMO Connect software, plug the Bluetooth dongle into your computer and connect the modules.

Do I need to install a specific driver to use the Bluetooth dongle?
No, installing the iMO-Connect software also includes the Bluetooth driver.

Can I also use the Bluetooth connection of the computer or another Bluetooth dongle to connect with the MDMs?
No, to successfully connect the MDMs it’s necessary to use the Bluetooth dongle provided by i3-Technologies. Other Bluetooth dongles don’t have the ability to connect to more than 4 devices.

How many MDM’s can I connect to the iMO-Connect software simultaneously?
You can use 1 Bluetooth dongle to connect 12 MDMs at once using the iMO-Connect software.

What is the maximum range between the Bluetooth dongle and the MDM?
Depending on the environment. That means that if you have a lot of interference from other devices, the range is not that good. In ideal circumstances the range is about 30 meter.

What are the system requirements for the iMO-Connect software?
The iMO-Connect software requires a Windows® operating system, min. Windows 7. There are now specific hardware requirements.

Note that Windows updates can affect the driver installation which could result in connection issues. Reinstalling the iMO-Connect software will solve the connection issue.

What is the battery life of the MDM?
A fully charged battery can be used for at least 36 hours. The MDM is equipped with a low-energy battery.

How do I charge the MDM?
The MDM has a micro USB connection. Every MDM is delivered with a USB charging cable. Connect this to your computer or a USB charging station to charge.

How long does it take to charge the MDM?
When the battery is entirely deflated it takes about 90 minutes to get fully charged again. During normal usage it takes about 15-30 minutes to charge the battery of the MDM.

Do I get an indication of the charge status of the MDM battery?
During the charging process the battery indication LED will be red. When fully charged it will turn to green.

Is it possible to get a new battery?
Yes, but nor the end user nor we are able to replace. This needs to be done in the factory, so this will always need to go through service.

What software do I need to play with the iMO-LEARN digitally?
Use the i3LEARNHUB online collaborative learning software to play with the iMO-LEARN digitally. You can register for a free account easily on www.i3learnhub.com. With a free account you can use the iMO-LEARN to play quick quizzes and access the i3Marketplace to use already made activities. A premium license is required to be able to create your own activities and save them in your personal library.

My image doesn’t fit on the LCD screen of the projector screen
Can the i3SYNC send a 5,1 or 7,1 surround sound signal from HDMI?

Check below if the transmitter does not work fine

  • Check if the transmitter power is on;
  • Check if the power LED is green or orange. If it’s red or not working, please recharge the transmitter by using the USB cable.
  • Check if the Status LED is green or orange. If it’s red, transmission fails. Please check if your device is sending an HDMI signal.
  • If the Status LED is green,  push the red button and wait a few seconds.

Check below if the Receiver does not work fine

  • Check if the option of the receiver (TV or projector) is HDMI input.
  • Check if the power is being supplied. Check item 9
  • The receiver needs 30 ~ 50 seconds to start up.
  • Check if there is no other receiver active in a range of 20 meter, with the same SSID. If you want to use i3Sync in two meeting rooms next to each other, the SSID frequency of each i3Sync set has to be changed, otherwise there will be interference between the two systems. If this is the case, please contact your dealer.

Check below if the Transmitter equipped laptop doesn’t do any actions

  • In the laptop’s display set up, you must set the multiple displays (replica or expanded).
  • If ‘replica or expanded’ option in display set-up is not activated → Connect the transmitter, turn the power on and click the “detect” button in display set-up, then after auto-recognition, choose replica or expanded.
  • If no recognition after the “detect” button is clicked → Graphic driver may be the reason; Explain that besides the Windows’ basic display set-up installed in the computer, the user must set up multiple monitors from the graphic driver’s display set-up.

How far can I transmit videos?

More than 10 ~ 20 meters from the Transmitter to the Receiver: variable (10 m indicated in the product catalogue). Due to the nature of wireless products, the distance is shorter if there is any walls or obstacles. In open space and high ceiling, the distance can be up to 20 m.

How about capacity, duration and charging time of the receiver battery?

  • Battery Capacity: 1300 mAh
  • Duration: Up to 3 h
  • Charging Time: Within 2 h (5V 1A adaptor connected); variable for PC USB port charging
  • Service Life: 500 ~ 1000 times; 1 time means from full-charge to full-discharge

Which resolution does it support?

  • Transmitter supported resolution: 480p, 720p, and 1080p
  • Receiver supported resolution: 720p
  • For manual settings of 1080 PC/laptop display resolution, the screen will display the same icon/font size but the definition will be 720p

Can I transmit videos for 24 hours?

Not recommended. As ANYSYNC Mirror has been developed not for industry but for the meeting/presentation/class as the main target, it does not intend to a continuous use for 24/7. Based on our test results, the product works fine for a continuous use for more than 24 hours, but no test has been done for continuous use for more than 1 week.

Can I use the product (transmitting videos) while charging Transmitter from a USB port?

Yes you can use the product while charging the battery from USB currents. You may use any USB port that follows the USB2.0 or 3.0 standard, that supplies >500mA. If the USB port fails to follow the standard or provides ≤ 500mA due to some other power load, discharging time may be faster than charging time of the Transmitter battery.

Can I use a USB port as the power source for the Receiver? Or should I use only the external adaptor?

You may use any USB port that follows the USB2.0 or 3.0 standard, that supplies >500mA. If the power of the USB port < 500mA, the receiver will fail. Please plug the receiver, with the power adaptor directly to the power network, instead of a USB port.

My image doesn’t fit on the LCD screen of the projector screen

When the image of your i3SYNC has a black border (e.g. 2 centimeters), approximately 95% of the image is shown. Please change the scan mode op your LCD screen. E.g.: for a NEC display, you need to switch from “over scan” to “under scan”, a mode that fully sets the image size within the display area.

Can the i3SYNC send a 5,1 or 7,1 surround sound signal from HDMI?

No. The surround sound signal will be send via i3SYNC but converted to stereo. I3SYNC supports both mono and stereo.

How do I calibrate if I don’t have the drivers installed?
What am I supposed to do when the touch function of my i3BOARD stops working at times?
I’m not able to able to open my apps because of a resolution problem. How to solve (Windows 8)?

How does an i3BOARD work?

An i3BOARD is connected to a PC or laptop via a USB cable. This requires no additional power since power comes directly from the computer through the USB connection. When you turn on your computer the board automatically starts. By connecting your computer to a projector you can project the computer image onto the i3BOARD. You must be connected to your computer for the i3BOARD to work. Touch recognition (driver installed From Windows 7) can work without drivers, but we always recommend to install them.

Download the i3BOARD Drivers.

At the moment everything is connected and installed all applications can be controlled directly by your finger, pen, or computer mouse.

How do I calibrate an i3BOARD?

Windows 7

    • Click on your start menu
    • Click my programs
    • Click ' i3BOARD drivers
    • Click the "calibration" button to enter the calibration screen
    • red dots will appear, follow the prompts and your i3BOARD is now calibrated

MAC OS X

    • Go to the i3BOARD driver program (root of installation file)
    • Click ' i3BOARD drivers
    • Click the "calibration" button to enter the calibration screen
    • red dots will appear, follow the prompts and your i3BOARD is now calibrated

Can you right-click on an i3BOARD?

Yes. Hold your finger for 3 seconds on the desired point of activation.

Do I receive software with an i3BOARD?

Yes. An i3BOARD or any i3TOUCH display comes with our standard i3BOOK Software. It allows you to work with your favorite programs with the advantage of adding notes and or adjustments. Note: i3BOOK is compatible only with Windows operating systems.

Do I need a special computer for an i3BOARD?

A computer equipped from Windows7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Ultimate is perfect for an i3BOARD. Computers with older operating systems such as Windows XP minimum will also work, but will not have multi touch capablity.

What programs can I use on the i3BOARD?

Every program on your computer will work on the i3BOARD. Depending on the application, you can store digital notes or convert your handwriting into computer text.

Do I need a projector?

Yes. In order to project your desktop image onto i3BOARD a projector is required.

What makes the interactive whiteboard touch-sensitive?

    • The V-sense technology of the whiteboard makes it touch sensitive. LEDs sensors in the screen frame trace touches. Intelligent software translates these touches into gestures, mouse clicks, or digital ink.

What are the advantages of V-sense technology?

V -sense technology ensures accurate tracking of touch, intuitive and excellent image quality. The sensors are located in the full frame of the board. This means touch can still be detected if there is dust or other objects obstructing portions of the frame. The multi - touch technology (up to 10 points) allows for multiple students to work together, solve exercises, and lead presentations with a breeze. You can use a pen or finger to write, draw, and work with content on the board. There are no special tools or specific settings required. Students can start working immediately on the i3BOARD.

Working with an i3BOARD is more intuitive thanks to multi-touch and gesture detection. You can rotate objects on the board with two fingers while increasing or decreasing objects sizes on the screen. These functions are also active in other programs if you work with a multi touch operating system.

Can I work on an i3BOARD without drivers?

Yes, this is possible in Windows 7 and Windows 8

How do I calibrate if I don’t have the drivers installed?

Go to ‘Control Panel’ and open ‘Tablet PC Settings’. There you can calibrate.

What am I supposed to do when the touch function of my i3BOARD stops working at times?

In order to prevent this, all USB ports may not turn into sleep mode. Carry out the following steps:

1. Go to the control panel

2. Open ‘Power options'

3. Open ‘Change plan settings' of the active energy plan

4. Open 'Change advanced power settings’

5. Open ‘USB settings‘ and then ‘USB selective suspend setting’. Turn both on 'Disabled'.

I’m not able to able to open my apps because of a resolution problem. How to solve (Windows 8)?

1. Run Regedit
From the Windows 8 Start Screen, just start typing “regedit” without the quotes.

The Registry editor appear on the left side of the screen. Tap it to launch regedit.

2. Adjust the Display1_DownScalingSupported setting
Hit the Ctrl+F keys on your keyboard to bring up a search box, and search for “Display1_DownScalingSupported” without the quotes.

Once your computer finds that entry, double-click it to bring up a box that should have a 0 in it. Change that number to a 1 and then click OK to close the box.

Now hit F3 to search for any additional instances of the Display1_DownScalingSupported setting and change those form 0 to 1 as well. On my system there were two entries. Once you’re done, go ahead and exit the regedit program.

3. Reboot your computer

i3TOUCH

What am I supposed to do when the touch function of my i3TOUCH stops working at times?
Do I receive software with an i3TOUCH?
Unable to select Source (HDMI, VGA) or start up OPS or i3NOTES
No audio on OPS in i3TOUCH

What am I supposed to do when the touch function of my i3TOUCH stops working at times?

In order to prevent this, all USB ports may not turn into sleep mode. Carry out the following steps:

1. Go to the control panel

2. Open ‘Power options'

3. Open ‘Change plan settings' of the active energy plan

4. Open 'Change advanced power settings’

5. Open ‘USB settings‘ and then ‘USB selective suspend setting’. Turn both on 'Disabled'.

Do I receive software with an i3TOUCH?

i3BOARD works best with the online writing software i3LEARNHUB. You can register for a free account.

Unable to select Source (HDMI, VGA) or start up OPS or i3NOTES

If you have just powered on the monitor and are unable to select i3NOTES, OPS or either of the HDMI/VGA sources (screen does respond to touch but nothing happens) it is possible that a corrupted USB stick is present in one of the USB ports. Oddly enough often it is still possible to select settings.

Sometimes waiting a few minutes will solve the issue, but it is recommended to remove the USB stick and power cycle the monitor.
It may be that it is simply the file allocation table on the USB stick is corrupted (which is repairable under Windows), but it might also be that the USB stick itself is corrupted.

No audio on OPS in i3TOUCH

Problem description: There is no sound through i3TOUCH speakers while volume is up and there is playing sound.

Solution:

Reinstall “realtek audio driver”
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Check ‘accept’ checkbox
Click ‘next’

You normally need the x64 bit driver (make sure to check configuration settings > system > system type)

Then restart the OPS.
